About the LPA Archive

The LPA Archive was established in 2004 with the deposit of Lee Kitchens personal papers. Lee, who was President of LPAfrom 1964 to 1968 ,  joined LPA in 1961.  Lee established the first computer based membership system and held several other elected offices. During his lifetime Lee collected and saved most of the documents, photos, and memorabilia that were produced by LPA.

Since 2004 several official documents and personal collections have been accepted into the LPA Archive. These include minutes of executive committee, programs and actions initiated by the elected officers, photos and guides from most annual conferences, LPA Today and its predecessor newsletters which date back to 1962, films and videos focused on LPA Activities and/or which include portrayals by short statured actors or escribe issues or events of interest to short statured individuals, books which cover a wide range of topics and genre from biography, autobiography, disability issues, fiction, and non-fiction all relating to issues or concerns facing short statured individuals, scrapbooks produced by members, and memorabilia produced in connection with the annual conference or collected by individuals.

A limited selection of archive items, primarily limited to photos and reproducible documents  will be found on this website at this time. In the coming months and years the archive plans to copy documents, oral interviews, scrapbooks, and other items into an appropriate digital format and publish these items on this website.
